Maeve Cooke is a professor of philosophy at University College Dublin and a member of the Royal Irish Academy. In current research, she deals with the question of truth in social and political theory and with the issue of democratic disobedience, based on conscience. Among her works, we distinguish the following: Language and Reason: A Study of Habermas’s Pragmatics (MIT Press, 1994) i Re-Presenting the Good Society (MIT Press, 2006). She is the editor and translator of the book Habermas: On the Pragmatics of Communication (MIT Press, 1998). In addition, she has published numerous articles in journals and books, mainly in the field of social and political philosophy. She has been a guest lecturer at several universities in the United States and Europe and is a member of editorial boards in several scientific journals.
