Maurizio Ferraris is full professor of Theoretical Philosophy at the University of Torino, where he is the director of Labont (Laboratory for Ontology). He is columnist for La Repubblica, one of the main Italian newspapers, the director of Rivista di Estetica and co-director of Critique. He is Directeur d’études at the Collège International de Philosophie, Fellow of the Italian Academy for Advanced Studies in America and of the Alexander von Humboldt-Stiftung. He has been visiting professor at the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales in Paris and in other European and American universities, he has written more than one thousand articles and about forty books, which have been translated in various languages, such as History of Hermeneutics (1988), Rational Aesthetics (1997), and Where Are You? The Ontology of the Mobile Phone (2005, “Castiglioncello” prize for philosophy). In 2008, he has been awarded the “Viaggio a Siracusa” prize for his career. His last books are Documentality. Why it is necessary to leave traces (Laterza 2009) and Reconstructing Deconstruction (Bompiani 2010).
